‘Stones on stoneware’
-The Alchemization of Adversity into tangible art-
How do you alchemize your adversity into art?
The creation of the Barefoot Potter Shop was born out of a simple hope of healing my mind and my heart. After years of being entrenched in the global refugee crisis as a social worker I was in great need of a windless moment. A moment that didn’t have such high stakes. Becoming a potter was the unexpected yet incredibly profound answer for me. As fate would have it, the same year I opened my pottery shop I became paralyzed with Lyme disease. Again, I found myself at the starting line of seeking healing although this time for my physical body.
By the Grace of God the most profound healing arrived in the most unexpected way, again. This time it wasn’t stoneware, it was stones. Balancing stones on the beach.
As I regained control of my left side after three years, I began to realize that the only time my left side didn’t tic and twitch was when I was stacking stones.. This revelation compelled me to continue stacking. Having arrived to this current space with my mind, heart and body intact I felt determined to find a way to incorporate these meaningful modalities in one place to be shared.
This collection is the alchemization of that adversity into tangible art, specifically for you. I am inspired to share this collection of stones on stoneware with one simple hope for you - that they offer you or a loved one the unexpected yet profound reminder that healing does happen and that hope is contagious. Keep going!
With love, Jules
